Wk 2 Day 1 Artist challenge

Todays challenge was to 'Let the masters inspire your own piece of art'.
I chose the artist Romero Britto to inspire me.

These are my steps that I did to make my painting:

1.   I chose my favourite toy
2.  I sketched out what I wanted to draw with a pencil
3.  I used a vivid over the pencil markings
4.  I drew lines where I was going to put the colours
5.  I painted everything inside the lines

This is the slide show showing what I painted:

This is what I learnt doing the challenge:

I learnt to mix colours, my favourite was to mix blue and pink because it made purple.
I also learnt that you should paint slowly while spreading paint., using downward strokes.
Scrubbing the paint on the painting, just made a mess of the brushes too.
Lastly I learnt to not have too much paint on the brush or it will go everywhere.

One thing I would do differently is not to add glitter to my painting, it just covered to much of the cats face.

Have you ever made a painting like mine, using lots of colours?

  1. Hi Lucy,

Your artwork is stunning! I do enjoy Romero Britto's artwork as it is so colourful and fun. You have definitely captured his style in your own artwork. Great idea in your choice of toy as your model. He/She is very very cute, particularly the large eyes.

Your blog explains the process you took really carefully. This is fantastic as your readers will clearly know what you did and what they can do if they wanted to do something like this. Well done for including these steps in your blog post. I also love how you have explained your challenges and what you have learnt from this task. Fantastic!! This is a really top blog post Lucy :)

Another successful task has been completed. Superb work!

  2. Hello Lucy

Firstly this is mind blowing i love this blog post because its art I love art and on top of that it is stunning. You have captured the toys out line, I like your choice of model! It is nice and bright. I like how you told people your challenges for this art work and what you learnt.

Secondly, this reminded me of when i tried to draw my dog it did not go well. I like how you put instructions at the to which was useful for someone who is fascinated by your artwork.

Thirdly would you ever choose another animal if you could go back? Do you like the brightness or if you could go back and change it? Would you recommend a certain tecnec. How long did it take you to sketch it? Do you go to art lessons because your amazing at art?

Finally there it nothing you can change because it is mind blowing and I hope you do more blog posts like this!
